The article examines the lexical and semantic features of translating scientific and technical texts from English into Russian. The author offers a classification of terms, summarizes the features of the scientific and technical text that affect the syntactic structure of the utterance.

The article deals with the problem of schoolshooting in Russia and the world. The authors provide historical information about the first recorded cases of schoolshooting in the world. The problem of schoolshooting is considered in relation to the emotional states experienced by students. Recommendations for the prevention of such crimes are developed.
