The current social and cultural situation in the Russian Federation is determined by the bipolar tendencies of future development — modernization and traditionalism, ethnoculturalism and multiculturalism. The author examines the features of modern professional and pedagogical education in the multicultural educational space, the influence of the identified factors and contradictions of this process, historical, theoretical and methodological approaches to considering various interpretations, the concept of multicultural education in Russia and in the world, the ways of practical implementation are highlighted.
