The article discusses the influence of information on the development of culture. The analysis was carried out in a historical aspect from antiquity to the present day. The change of information sources (petroglyphs, hieroglyphs, writing, virtual reality) and their significance in the formation of a person’s cultural level and his cultural development are presented.

The article deals with the problem of education as a condition for the social development of a person in two (conditionally) forms of its implementation — objectively set in practical activities, in the space of his life experience, acquired in the social environment, and subjectively purposefully formed on the basis of specially developed scientific programs.
