The article deals with the issues related to the formation of scientific picture of the world of students of philology. On the basis of the analysis of scientific sources devoted to this problem, the importance of the scientific picture of the world in the process of professional development of students of philology is determined; the main aspects of work on the formation of the scientific picture of the world of students of philology are considered; the importance of learning terminological vocabulary in the process of studying linguistic disciplines is substantiated. The author offers a thematic terminological minimum for the discipline “Introduction to Linguistics”, gives examples of methods of work with linguistic terminology, contributing to the formation of a scientific worldview.
