The article describes a pedagogical experiment and research for formatting the cadets' information and computer competence under the military university's information educational environment. The hypothesis of positive influence of the cadets' information and computer competence level on the level of their success in solving educational and professional tasks by means of information technology is investigated. The methodology, purpose, objectives and hypothesis of the research are described. The validity of the selection of experimental and control groups, compliance with the equalized experimental conditions are considered and statistically proved. Using data analysis, statistical tests and criteria, the main hypothesis of the pedagogical experiment is substantiated and proved.
