The relevance of the research is due to the increased interest of students in modern musical genres. Music penetrates into the space of any culture and is able to form a worldview, value orientations, and spiritual ideals. The article reveals the concept of “musical culture”, examines the problems of studying the musical preferences of young people and the formation of their musical taste, shows the forms and genres of music that are most relevant in modern times. Based on the conducted survey, we can draw a conclusion about current state of musical preferences of students, as well as recommendations on the formation of musical culture among students in the educational process.
