Until recently, the most advanced computer technologies (graphics, mechatronics, popular devices with VR and AR support, multimedia, virtual reality gaming helmets, HD holograms, neurotechnologies, etc.) were at the heart of the entertainment sphere. Today, artificial intelligence has taken a leading place in the training of specialists. Military education for the rapid and high-quality training of its personnel not only uses the most advanced artificial intelligence technologies in practice, but also activates them in the educational process.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the pedagogical potential of modern game-based learning technologies in higher military schools. The analysis of the main approaches to the problem in domestic and foreign studies is carried out. The role of problem-based learning as a concept that removes the opposition of traditional and innovative learning technologies in higher military schools is considered.
